“What is your problem? I didn’t do anything and for some reason, you just push me away”, said Lala. Shu turned around and l glared at her, “Because you became my sister”, and instantly Lala’s heart broke. “What is it that you know about being the eldest?” he asked.

And finally Lala knew why her eldest brother despised her so much, “That’s it? Because I raised up your responsibilities of being the eldest?” “You have 2 younger siblings; did you ever get blamed when they got in trouble? Or not watching over them? She nodded, “Well that is what I’m going through”, he exclaimed, “I already have 5 younger brothers I need to watch over and now you 3. Every time any of you did something wrong or got hurt when I’m not there, I’m the one who is being blamed, it’s troublesome.”

Lala tried to kept her tears from falling, “Listen, if mom and dad blames you for not watching over me then tell me, I could tell them to stop”, Shu turned confused, “What do you mean?” “Look, I’m sorry I’m such a burden, if you don’t want to take care of me well, I still got the other guys. But I’m not saying I don’t need you”, “Then what do you mean?” he asked.

“I’m saying that if you hate me or if you don’t want to take care of me, that’s fine but all I’m asking you is….” a tear rolled down her cheek as guilt built up in Shu as her next words came,

“Just be and stay as my big brother, and that’s enough for me.”

Lala ran up to her room as Shu stared down at the floor, feeling guilty for giving her the cold shoulders ever since she became his step sister. He knew that he never gave her the chance to be his little sister at all.

That night, he walked up to her room, opened the door to found her asleep. Shu closed the door and walked to the side of the bed; he sat down on the edge and took a look at her. She was sleeping on her side with a pillow covering her face; he finds that a little cute. But when he lifted the pillow away from her face, regret just ran through his very soul as he saw dry tear traces on her cheek, she’s been crying.

He shook her a little to wake her up, she lazily opened her eyes and looked up to him, “Shu? What is it?” When she sat up, Shu wrapped his arms around her and holds her close, “I’m so sorry, okay? You are not a burden, I could never hate you and I’ll always protect you. Forever, you are my little sister.”

Lala smiled and hugs him back, when they broke the hug, he said, “Now, go back to sleep.” He was about to walk to the door as Lala grabbed the back of his shirt, “Can you sleep with me for tonight? Just once?” He gave her a smile and said, “I’ll sleep with you any time as long as what I get is sleep.” She chuckled at her big brother’s laziness; he got on the bed and under the blankets. He laid an arm over her and pull her close to his chest, “Hey Shu, when you said you never hate me, does that mean you love me?” she asked. “Go to bed”, he quickly commanded. “I am in bed”, she said, “Sleep”, she giggled a little, “Yes sir”, and both of them drifted to sleep.
