Reading and meditation on the Word of God on Tuesday of the 33rd week in Ordinary Time, November 19, 2024
Our meditation today has the theme: God Comes into Our Hearts and Homes. There was a little girl who was praying in her room. She cried out in prayer as she said: “Lord Jesus, If You are with me, speak with a voice like my Father or my Mother. Please Lord, I love hearing your voice." The girl then closed her eyes and was eager to hear the voice of the Lord Jesus. In a few moments of silence, the door to her room was knocked and there was a voice that called: "Laura, Laura ... can I come in?" The little Laura opened her eyes and immediately jumped with joy because she thought it was the Lord Jesus. It turned out that her father was the one who entered her room.
The house where we live, the school where we study, the office where we work, and our heart where we feel at home with and where God chooses to dwell in, are always blessed by God. Thus they are all the worthy places for God to visit and to be with us. The temple of the Lord is not just a place, but it is more of the person of Jesus Christ who moves, walks and reaches every home, place and people who receive Him. Jesus carries the temple Himself to consecrate all that He encounters.
He told Zacchaeus in the city of Jericho that he was coming to the house of that rich tax collector and great sinner of the society. Once He got there, both the home and the person of the sinner were sanctified. There was salvation offered to Zacchaeus' life. We all admit that God is not always invited or asked to come to our homes and ourselves. However, we just need to devote our time and enthusiasm to prayer, and that's when He is there every time we are at prayer. In this moment of prayer our souls and spirits connect ourselves with God, at the same time there is also an interaction of our fellowship with God.
Through baptism, we officially became the house of the Lord. Every member of our families constitutes the house of God and the unity of all members truly makes the house fo God as a family. Both every single person and family are the basic elements in constituting the Church, which becomes communion of one body with Jesus as the head. Every time we gather and worship in the Church, it is an opportunity for the fellowship of one communion and universal house of God. Outside the activities of worshiping God, we continue live together in the fellowship and unity as the one people of God.
The sins that we have committed did make our fellowship as one community of believers disturbed and even hurt. Jesus must have had compassion and put His power to transform it by visiting both we as individuals and our families. The important thing is we are open and accept Him into ourselves and in our families.
Let's pray. In the name of the Father ... Lord Jesus, come and abide in me, and fill me with peace, Your presence and all goodness. Glory to the Father ... In the name of the Father ...
