CONSISTENCY AS A SERVANT
The theme for our meditation today is: Consistency as a Servant. There was an elementary school boy managed to improve his red grades into good grades. During the remedial process, his mother and father spent time to assist him in those subjects that he failed. Aware of the importance of this responsibility, the husband and wife were seen to refrain from their daily quarrels. When it was proven that the boys's final semester grades turned out to be good, the quarrel between his parents totally ended and no longer repeated. They would start a new and peaceful life.
When they were at the table during meal time, the boy was saying this to his parents: “I want to keep good grades, so I have to study hard and work hard. Papa and Mama also have to stay in harmony, never quarrel and fight anymore." The child was not giving a statement, but he is giving a piece of advice. He reminded himself, his parents, and all of us that maintaining what is already good and proper is something that is right and good. He wants consistency to be the best choice for us who want to be faithful in following our vocations.
For us followers of Christ and members of the holy Church, our experience of the Lord's consistency with us is undeniable. He is faithful to us in all things. Today we are reminded of God's faithfulness to accompany, to assist, and to protect us. This reminder helps us to be always aware that we are sent as the lambs in the midst of wolves, where temptations and dangers can attack us any time we do not predict.
Saint Paul today refreshes our faith on the importance of faithfulness to the Lord God through Jesus Christ who justifies and defends our dignity as the consecrated people of God through our baptism. Our being so human with the burden of the original sin has been made new as the sons and daughters of God which signifies our real dignity. A consistent Christian life style is to maintain that dignity and membership in the holy Church. This consistency really signifies our loyalty to God who called and sent us. For example, to be faithful as a child in the family is actually a practice of obedience to God who has gifted a child to his parents and the big family.
The Lord Jesus today gives us a parable on the figure of a servant who must be consistent in his duties to be in vigilance or always prepared for the arrival of his master. This is meant to teach us to be prepared in any condition and time when God reveals His will to us. God is consistent to come to us with all His blessings and intervention in our lives, and we must also be consistent to accept and fulfill His will for each one us.
Let's pray. In the name of the Father... O Lord, make us faithful servants in welcoming You in any moment and situation of our lives when You will speak and guide us to do Your command. Glory to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit... In the name of the Father...
